Consulting Services

Need help implementing your technology?

I can provide consulting services in two areas of technology. The first area is product and Web site launches. You're about to spend a significant amount of money launching your technology product or Web site. It might be helpful at this point to get an outside opinion. Will this thing really work as you expect it to? What will be the public reaction? How does it compare to the competition? Will you be riding a rising trend, or is there another trend that's about to eclipse this one? I can provide an honest, well-reasoned, and well-researched appraisal of your chances for success. I can't guarantee success, but I may be able to improve your odds.

The second area involves choosing, purchasing, and implementing technology solutions for your company. After 15 years of writing for many of the top technology publications, I've poked and prodded just about every kind of computer-related product. If it plugs into your computer or connects to the Internet, I've probably analyzed the category, thoroughly tested the individual products, and sorted out the competitive trends. For example, you may be thinking about adding wireless capabilities to your network. Are you aware of the security implications for wireless network devices or any soon-to-be-introduced standards that could significantly boost your throughput? If you're not aware of these kinds of things, you may be spending money on products that will soon be outdated or obsolete.

I generally charge an hourly rate, though I am open to a flat fee for a project, as long as both parties are clear as to how much time and work will be involved. Some companies prefer to budget a set amount to begin with. When that amount is used up, they can decide to buy additional consulting time or stop at that point. I can be flexible in these kinds of situations.

If you need more details, or if you would like to sign up for my consulting services, you can e-mail me at web1@davidenglish.com.

I'm also a freelance writer and editor, so feel free to contact me if you need help in those areas.
